The Department of Geography was first established at Sri Pratap College in 1942, followed by its shifting to Amar Singh College in 1946 and re-establishment in SP College in 1979. The Department continues to integrate physical and human geography with modern geospatial technologies. It focuses on building analytical, research, and technical skills among students.

In the contemporary era, Geography integrates traditional knowledge with advanced geospatial technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and spatial analytics to address emerging environmental and socio-economic challenges.
