The Department of Zoology offers undergraduate and postgraduate education in the study of animal life, encompassing diversity, structure, physiology, genetics, ecology, and evolution. The department is committed to providing students with a strong academic foundation through a balanced combination of classroom teaching, laboratory training, field studies, and research-oriented learning.
Special emphasis is placed on understanding biodiversity, animal health, environmental sustainability, and contemporary advances in biological sciences. Through a student-centered learning environment, the department encourages curiosity, scientific thinking, and active participation in academic and research activities, preparing students for higher education, research, and diverse career opportunities in the biological sciences.
The department also offers a Minor Course in Human Genetics, which introduces students to the principles of heredity, human variation, genetic disorders, and contemporary developments in human biology. The course helps students develop an understanding of the role of genetics in health, disease, and society, while providing exposure to emerging areas of modern biological research.
In addition, skill-based training in Veterinary Technology provides practical exposure to animal care, handling, health management, and basic laboratory techniques. This training enhances professional competence and equips students with valuable practical skills relevant to academic, research, and applied biological fields.
